HAVING A SAY: The Foresters Arms pub in Wickham Street, Welling, has agreed to regular quarterly meetings with residents to discuss any problems, after scaling back its application to extend its hours under the new Licensing Act. Following objections by residents and ward councillors, the pub agreed to an extra 30 minutes opening on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and entertainment on Friday or Saturday until 11pm, following complaints about activities over the Christmas holidays.
WATCH OUT: St Michael's ward councillor Wendy Perfect has warned residents to be vigilant after plans by mobile phone company Orange, to site a mast at the junction of First Avenue and Longleigh Lane, Bexleyheath, were refused by Bexley Council. She has advised residents the company may appeal against Bexley's decision, or come back with a revised application for a similar site in the area.
FRESH FOOD: Fresh homemade produce and handmade goods are on sale weekly at the Bexley Country Market, held from 9.45am to 11am every Friday at the Freemantle Hall, Bexley Village High Street. Refreshments are available and entry is free.
GAS LEAK: Station Road, Sidcup, was partially closed to traffic last week while Transco carried out emergency repairs to a gas main following a gas leak on January 24. Despite diversions, the closure caused major traffic hold-ups in the area.
