BOGUS CALLERS: North Kent police are appealing for information after a bogus caller visited a home in Beaconsfield Road, Bexley. On January 10 at 2.30pm an 86-year-old man answered the door to a couple claiming to be social workers. The woman, described as white, 5ft 5in tall, with brown shoulder-length hair, distracted the victim, while the man stole cash. Call 01474 565221.
HOUSE BLAZE: Firefighters were called to a fire thought to have been caused by a washer/ dryer which had overheated. Two appliances attended the blaze at 10.21pm on January 20. No-one was injured in the fire, which took place at a house in Thorndon Road, St Paul's Cray, Orpington.
