BRIDGE WORKS: Work began on Monday to reinforce the parapets on the bridge over the A2 at Arbuthnot Lane, Bexley. Traffic on the bridge will be restricted to a single alternate lane, controlled by temporary traffic lights. The works are expected to last until the end of July.

ELECTION RESULTS: Daisy Clement was elected chairman of Bexleyheath and Crayford Conservative Association for 2006, at its recent annual meeting. Howard Marriner is deputy chairman, Dianne Marriner is secretary and Stephen Edgar is treasurer.

PUBLIC MEETING: The Welling Town Partnership holds its next meeting tomorrow at Welling United FC, Park View Road, Welling, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. Members of the public are welcome to attend and hear about the town's major issues and projects.
