PUPILS put on a night of entertainment with an Oriental theme to mark the Chinese New Year.
Visitors to Blackheath High School were treated to musical performances and short films prepared by the youngsters.
Professional lion dancers also entertained the audience at the school in Vanbrugh Hill, Blackheath.
In September the school introduced Mandarin as a compulsory part of its curriculum.
It has also developed links with a school in Chongqing, south west China, where it soon hopes to send a group of pupils on a school trip.
Head of modern languages Jonathan Baker said: "The Chinese New Year event is just one way we hope to encourage students' interest in Chinese language and culture."
