GREENWICH traders have been flooded with support following revelations last week of plans to demolish the market.
Chairman of Greenwich Town Centre Traders' Association Rob Toogood says he has been overwhelmed by support from local officials, including MP Nick Raynsford and several councillors.
Customers have also pledged their support by signing a petition.
Mr Toogood says Greenwich Hospitals the charity which owns the land the market is on will face an "uphill battle" if it plans to redevelop the historic market.
At a private meeting last week traders said they have been made to feel like "victims" of a big business intent on "destroying" their community and livelihood.
Last week, council leader Councillor Chris Roberts said he would "not entertain" the idea of allowing the market to be demolished.
