Travel thousands of miles to Melbourne, Australia, and you may feel like you are in familiar surroundings.

A suburb in the west of the Victoria metropolis about 5km from the centre of Melbourne - is called Footscray, named after the village of Foots Cray in Bexley.

Traditionally blue collar with a large heavy industry sector, Footscray is a magnet for migrants, mainly Vietnamese but also from north and west Africa. This gives Footscray a diverse multicultural population.

Footscray is a major rail junction and also home to the Victoria University of Technology.

The Melbourne Museum of Printing, featuring one of the world's largest collections of printing machinery and artefacts, is also based in Footscray.

The Footscray market is one of the cheapest fresh produce (particularly seafood) markets in Melbourne.
