PEOPLE with food allergy worries can ease their fears during this week's Food Allergy and Intolerance Week.
As many as one in five people believe they are intolerant or allergic to food but less than one per cent of adults actually have a food allergy.
A simple skin-prick test done at a Bromley Hospitals NHS Trust clinic will reveal whether someone is allergic to a food.
Trust dietician Caroline Culverwell said: "Intolerances may subside after avoidance of the suspect food from the diet for an indicated period of time, then gradually reintroducing the food when the patient becomes symptom free.
"If the symptoms recur then a possible food intolerance may have been identified."
