THE evocative sounds of the African continent can be heard when the band DaDa bring their national tour to the Croydon Clocktower. Dada describe their sound as African blues, combining traditional music with a contemporary Afro beat.
The music reflects the African origins of American delta blues.
The band's influences include music of the west African Mandinka people and the nomadic Fula from the north.
Some of the songs address conflict and injustice. The band says its lyrics are bitter truths wrapped in sweet melodies.
The band features musicians from Ghana, Ethiopia and Senegal.
The arrangements include traditional percussion and animal skin guitars, known as Hallam.
