PLANS to open a rehabilitation home to provide suport for sex offenders have been dropped.
Care in the Community and Rehabilitation (CICAR), a privately-funded Norfolk-based organisation, wanted to open the centre in Dartford.
It hopes to set up six centres across the UK to house former sex offenders in a bid to re-introduce them into the community.
A CICAR spokesman said: "Following in-depth study and consideration of all data it has now been concluded Dartford will not be suitable to support the needs of clients and is therefore no longer on the list of possible locations for a complex."
Dartford MP Dr Howard Stoate said: "I'm pleased these plans have been dropped. I've always maintained Dartford is not an appropriate location for a facility of this nature."
