TWITCHERS in the borough are most likely to spy sparrows through their binoculars, a survey has revealed.
The house sparrow is the most commonly-sighted bird in Lewisham.
The next two most-seen birds are the starling and the wood pigeon, according to research done by the RSPB.
The charity is also predicting some more exotic birds could be on their way to the borough, including the ring-necked parakeet, usually native to countries such as India.
RSPB officer Paul Forecast said: "Birds are everywhere but we often ignore them in London.
"I challenge Lewisham residents to spend an hour discovering what a rich variety of birdlife there is in our urban jungle."
