ENGLAND coach Sven-Goran Eriksson joined pupils at a sports college to kick off a Football for Unity scheme.
The England boss was accompanied by girlfriend Nancy Dell'Olio at Eltham Green Specialist College for the launch of the programme.
Teams from five Greenwich schools and a Muslim school in north London took part in a mini-tournament at the college in Queenscroft Road, Greenwich.
The event was held to bring children from different ethnic, religious and social backgrounds together.
Football for Unity is a UK-based development programme aimed at using football to promote peace, unity and tolerance in communities.
Programme organiser Yamam Nabeel said: "The day exceeded expectations.
"We hope the tournament will be one of many planned throughout the country on a regular basis."
Joining Eltham Green in the tournament were teams from Plumstead Manor School for Girls, Thomas Tallis School, Woolwich Polytechnic School for Boys and Eltham Hill Technology College for Girls.
