A SECONDARY school was invited to the London Eye to celebrate its 50-per-cent improvement in GCSE results.
Fifty-two pupils got five or more A* to C GCSE grades.
As the league tables came out on January 19, staff and students from Abbey Wood School, Eynsham Drive, Abbey Wood, took their place on the Millennium Wheel as one of the most improved schools in London.
One school from each of the 32 London boroughs was invited by the Department for Education and Skills through its London Challenge to celebrate their improved GCSE results.
The London Challenge strategy, which was launched by the Prime Minister in 2003, aims to transform secondary schools with a history of low aspiration and low achievement through providing support to teachers and students.
Headteacher Sue Harry said: "We are proud of the work of the students and staff.
"We had a great day on the London Eye and are delighted our achievements are being recognised."
