PUPILS are looking forward to getting a new library and computer centre.
At some point in the next two weeks Kent County Council (KCC) planners are expected to allow a roof to be built over the courtyard at Downsview Primary School.
The school's 180 pupils will be able to use the new centre, which is part of a £1m revamp, by April.
Headteacher Sue Woodcock said: "It's very exciting and will provide a better learning environment for the children."
Until December 2003 a separate infant and junior school were on the site in Beech Wood Avenue, Swanley. They merged in January 2004.
The work is the first phase of re-developing the former infant school, which will house all of the pupils by this September.
Pupils currently still use both buildings.
Three extra classrooms, a kitchen and a community room to be used for adult education evenings are also part of the plans.
The junior school building will eventually be demolished and sold. KCC will re-invest the cash into education.
