A COUPLE celebrated their diamond wedding by having tea at a luxury London hotel.
Fred Orford, 85, and his wife Mary, 84, were picked up by limousine and taken to The Savoy Hotel, The Strand, on Sunday afternoon.
The former printer and his wife married at Askern Methodist Church in Doncaster on November 27, 1945.
Mr Orford served in the Army as a gunner during the Second World War and his wife worked as a nurse in the RAF.
They have one daughter, Diane, 58, and one grandson, Daniel, 32.
The great grandmother of Hartslock Drive, Thamesmead, said: "The secret of our marriage is loving and caring for each other and not taking each other for granted."
