TORY councillors are urging people to attend the next meeting of Bexley Council's cabinet when it will discuss selling off a care home site.
A charitable trust, MCCH, took over former Bexley Council care homes in Novemeber 2002, with an agreement to modernise facilities and use the cash from selling off sites, to improve services.
But Tories claim the trust has run into problems over paying for a new residential home it is building in York Avenue, Sidcup, at a cost of £1.8m.
They say the trust is looking for extra cash and is looking to sell off land in Lesney park Road, Erith, currently occupied by the Hainault home, which cares for people with learning disabilities.
The sale could raise as much as £1.5m.
An Age Concern day centre and Mencap's Betty Tod centre would also have to find new sites.
Angry relatives and carers attended a meeting organised by Bexley Mencap where MCCH outlined the options available.
However, some people feel they have not been properly consulted.
The cabinet meeting, which is open to the public, is being held on January 31 at the civic offices in Bexleyheath Broadway, at 7.30pm.
