CHILDREN enjoyed a morning of fun to celebrate the launch of a scheme to encourage their interest in books.
More than 30 excited under fives and their parents turned up at Dartford Library, Central Park, to see what Book Start Plus was all about.
After making model animals, face painting and watching a clown, they were presented with two free books and told about the initiative.
The Government-funded scheme gives free books to children between the ages of 18 months and four-years-old.
It aims to encourage an interest in reading from an early age.
Community librarian Christine Matthews said: "It was a good way of introducing the parents and children to the library. They were thrilled with the books."
