Over the last few years John Prescott has been pushing local councils for more houses and apartments to be built to meet the demand for new homes.
Many estate agents have taken up the mantle and are appealing for unused land to develop in order to meet some of this demand.
According to Capital estate agent's Rob Tancred, many buildings in and around the south east have already been knocked down for redevelopment.
Some of these include parts attached to sides of buildings or at the rear of exisiting properties in large gardens for example.
Rob says Capital has a system which they say gives a good idea of what plots of land can achieve if sold for redevelopment purposes.
Capital is offering a service which is confidential and it could prove a sound investment.
Rob says: "If you are lucky enough to have the right plot of land that is ripe for redevelopment it can be highly lucrative.
"Selling to a property developer can help save the vendor time and lessens the stress of a normal property transaction. You will be surprised with the level of units that can be built on a plot of land no matter how small.
"Obviously the larger the plot, the more people can be housed, leaving John Prescott happier."
