Reading News Shopper on January 18, I spotted the article explaining that unstable gravestones were being laid down flat in Bromley's cemetaries, beginning in Chislehurst.
Having a member of the family buried in Chislehurst cemetary, I went to check if the gravestone had been affected.
When I got there many of the more recent, not the old, gravestones had been pushed down, some broken at their base, some literally snapped off.
A family member dying is hard enough and visiting the grave can be a difficult time. I feel sorry for those people who will arrive only to find a gravestone on the floor with a phone number inviting you to spend money on repairing a pushed down, sometimes damaged and now muddy gravestone.
