TRAGEDY struck twice in the borough after a mother and a teenager died in two separate car smashes.
Olga Segieda-Salski died when her Mercedes collided with a BMW in Court Road, at the junction with Warren Road, Chelsfield.
The driver of the BMW has been arrested for causing death by dangerous driving after the collision at 5pm on January 15.
Mrs Segieda-Salski's neighbour June Dean says she was instantly recognisable because she wore a hat, glasses and ankle socks and always had her dogs with her.
Mrs Dean, co-ordinator of the area's Neighbourhood Watch scheme, said: "It's very sad.
"Olga was a private person and a very nice lady.
"She would always say hello and slow her car down to wave to my granddaughter as we were walking along the road."
When Mrs Dean, of Well Hill, Chelsfield, last spoke to Mrs Segieda-Salski before Christmas, she learned she had put her home, where she lived for around six years, on the market after becoming a victim of crime.
Mrs Segieda-Salski, who is believed to have been in her 60s, was burgled and had two cars stolen, once after she was followed home from a shopping trip, so her children were worried about her safety.
In Crystal Palace, a 19-year-old driver died when his Volkswagen Golf collided with a bus in Anerley Road.
He was travelling north with three male passengers, two aged 16, when he hit a south-travelling number 432 double decker bus near the junction with Hamlet Road.
The Arriva London South Ltd bus, which had just pulled away from a stop, mounted the pavement and crashed into a railway bridge wall.
Debris fell onto the track, just missing a train which had pulled into Anerley station.
There were no passengers on the train and a bus passenger was uninjured but the male bus driver was taken to Lewisham Hospital and treated for shock.
Two passengers in the black, three-door Golf were taken to King's College Hospital, London, where they are in a serious but stable condition.
The third passenger was taken to Lewisham Hospital and was still in a serious condition yesterday.
Any witnesses to the collision at 8.50pm on January 13 should call the south east collision investigation unit in Catford on 020 8285 1574.
Bromley Council executive councillor for the environment Councillor George Taylor, whose responsibilities include road safety, said: "Road safety continues to be one of our priorities.
"We will listen carefully to the conclusions of the police to see if we can make our roads safer."
