A GOLF course is celebrating after winning an environmental award.

Lullingstone Park Golf Course, Park Gate Road, Chelsfield, won the award for making sure the course is as environmentally-friendly as possible.

Judges at the Business Achievement Awards of Excellence for Environmental Management were especially impressed because the course does not use many pesticides or fungicides, which allows wildlife to thrive.

There are also plans under way to plant a wild hedgerow around the perimeter to encourage more wildlife into the park.

Course manager Melvyn Tassell said: "The past few years have seen a number of positive improvements aimed at not only supporting the area's natural wildlife but also proving beneficial to Lullingstone Park as a whole."

The golf course has been run by Sencio Community Leisure, which runs leisure facilities in partnership with Sevenoaks District Council, for the past two years.
