YOUNGSTERS braved the cold weather to make sure their area will look bright and cared for come the spring.
Around 50 pupils from Slade Green Infant School, Slade Green Road, have been out in the nearby recreation ground helping to plant 250 young trees and more than 800 daffodil bulbs under the guidance of Bexley Council Rangers.
The bulbs and trees, which include holly, spindle, blackthorn and wild rose, were provided by the council.
The planting is part of an annual project undertaken by rangers every winter in the borough's parks and open spaces.
This is the fourth year the Slade Green schoolchildren have taken part.
By encouraging children to get involved with the programme, it is hoped they will learn to take pride in their area and help take care of it.
