PAN FIRE: A man had to be pulled from his blazing flat after a fire started by an unattended pan on a hob. The man was resuced by firefighters after the blaze broke out in the kitchen of the flat, in Flaxton Road, Plumstead, in the early hours of January 13. He was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
FALLING SHORT: Figures from the National Association of Headteachers for 2005/6 shows Greenwich is one of 16 boroughs which is failing to spend the amount on education recommended by Whitehall. Greenwich should have spent £169m but only spent £164m.
