CHRISTIANS of all denominations are being invited to a service tonight to promote unity.
Seven Belvedere churches are joining together to show their own friendship and to pray for the community and world peace.
The service, at All Saints, Nuxley Road, Belvedere, at 7.30pm, is part of the annual world-wide week of prayer for Christian unity.
Representatives from All Saints, St Augustine's, Ichthus Fellowship and Congregational, Baptist, Methodist and Pencostal churches in Belvedere, known collectively as Churches Together in Belvedere, meet regularly throughout the year.
They offer each other support and practical help with events such as the Belvedere Festival.
They also raise funds for the poorer nations of the world and have boxes in the Nuxley Road and Gilbert Road Co-op stores where people can place notes about their worries and concerns, knowing prayers will be said for them in all the churches of the area.
