Dave Hawkins sails on the Thames during the club's trip to Tilbury
A SAILING club took a winter trip up the river.
Gravesend Sailing Club usually sails through the summer months along the tidal Thames.
But members braved the cold and took to the water for a trip across the river to Tilbury.
More than 35 people enjoyed a cooked breakfast at the clubhouse before the sail.
Pupils from Dartford Grammar School for Girls, Shepherds Lane, Dartford, and students from Leeds and Portsmouth universities joined the club on the Thames.
Portsmouth University student Rich Savage said: "When my friend suggested sailing, I wasn't sure.
"But then I decided there was nothing better than messing about in boats."
