BEING GREEN: Council chiefs are encouraging residents to make recycling their new year's resolution. Greenwich Council wants more people to leave household rubbish in recycling bags. Cabinet member for environment Councillor Alex Grant said: "Recycling is one of the simplest ways for residents to help protect the environment."
FINDING OUT: Greenwich Council last year met 92 per cent of requests made under the Freedom of Information Act within the deadline of 20 working days set by the Government. The act allows members of the public to access all recorded information held by public authorities.
GOOD WOOD: Abbey Wood School, Eynsham Drive, Greenwich, is one of the London schools to be invited to the London Eye tomorrow by the Department for Education and Skills to celebrate 50 per cent improvement in pupils achieving five A to C GCSE grades.
CULTURE VISIT: Minister for Culture David Lammy will be at the Amazon to Caribbean, Early Peoples of the Rainforest exhibit at the Horniman Museum, London Road, Forest Hill, on January 23 at 10am.
GAMES TEAM: Greenwich will once again enter a team of young sportsmen and women to compete in the London Youth Games at Crystal Palace in July.
