PENSIONERS are giving the thumbs-up to the healthcare they receive, a new survey has found.

Greenwich Primary Care Trust (PCT) carried out an inspection of its care homes, asking 100 older residents and 50 carers for their views on care standards.

The PCT says most were "very positive" about progress being made, with particular praise given to the range of facilities available for older people.

But the survey also reveals room for improvement in other areas, including waiting times for treatments such as occupational therapy.

Greenwich PCT chief executive Jane Schofield said: "I am very pleased this report highlights the quality and range of services which have been developed for older people.

"We are all committed to taking forward the recommendations for future improvement."
