AN ILLEGAL immigrant who stabbed his lover, her son and the family dog to death has been locked up indefinately.
Alex George killed Anita Ings, 47, and her 25-year-old son, Gavin, in their house in Coxwell Road, Plumstead, on July 4 last year.
The Old Bailey heard George also killed the family's mongrel dog before turning on the gas taps at the house in a botched suicide attempt.
The 32-year-old Jamaican turned himself in to police the day after the stabbings and admitted two counts of manslaughter due to diminished responsibilty.
George came to Britain in February 2000 and became an illegal immigrant when his visitor's visa expired last February.
The court heard the day before Anita was killed she was planning to make a fresh start on her own after deciding to end their relationship.
Speaking outside the court, Anita's former husband Steve Ings said: "If he was hanged, drawn and quartered it wouldn't be enough to me. Nothing will bring them back."
Convicted on January 9, George has now been transferred from Broadmoor Hospital to Sutton Manors secure hospital in Essex, under the Mental Health Act.
