A SURVEY has revealed Lewisham's babies are going ga-ga for kebabs and marmalade.
The survey, which asked 63 parents about the first word spoken by their baby, proved some youngsters say the strangest things.
One parent revealed her baby uttered the word kebab, as she listened to the pitta of his his tiny feet.
And others asked said their babies had spouted unusual words such as meow, oh dear and marmalade.
The survey was carried out by Lewisham Council's libraries department, to promote its drive to encourage more young people to read.
Less unusually, mum and dad were the most popular first words for babies in the borough.
