BIGGIN HILL & WESTERHAM LIONS CLUB
Biggin Hill & Westerham Lions Club would like to say a big "Thank You" to everyone who has supported us over the last twelve months and especially to those who have contributed to our Xmas collections.
Approximately £1000 was raised from our door-to-door collections around Biggin Hill. A further £205 was collected at Polhill Garden Centre and a massive £789 was collected in Morrisons on Christmas Eve.
The proceeds of the two store collections will be donated to Demelza House Childrens Hospice whilst the funds from the door-to-door collections will be used to fund our other good works in the local community.
Over the last year we have been able to make the following donations, thanks to the excellent support we have recieved: £2400 to Demelza House Children's Hospice and £750 to Dorton House (Royal London School For The Blind).
£500 to Valence School £200 to Biggin Hill Community Care.
And smaller donations to: St Marks Holiday Club, Macmillan Cancer Relief, Genesis Appeal (National Breast Screening Centre), Tatsfield Community Responders, Special Olympics, Threshers Day Nursery (Orpington), Sleeping Bag Project, 9th West Wickham Scouts, Bromley Hospital Cancer Beacon, Westerham Gallant Sea Cadets, St Theresa's Hazel Room Fund and a hospital in Malawi.
Demelza House is a cause close to the heart of Biggin Hill & Westerham Lions Club and other Lions Clubs. Many Lions and Lioness Clubs in the South East contributed towards the £4 million raised to build, equip and open the Hospice in 1998.
The Club desperately needs new members to enable it to continue all aspects of its good work in the local community.
So if any one has made a new years resolution to: get out more, get more involved in the local community or use their skills and talents for the good of others they should consider joining the Lions. Membership is open to men and women of all ages. To find out more visit www.bigginlions.2ya.com or phone Malcolm Lowing on 01959 576628.
