ROWHILL WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
Our December meeting opened with president Kelly welcoming several visitors and also formally welcoming the two new committee members. Thanks were also given to Gill Fish and husband Les for organising the recent long weekend trip to the Christmas Markets in Alcace, France and also to Eileen Mills for once again enabling members and friends to enjoy concernt outings to London and Croydon. Rowhill has been well entertained since the last meeting and winter does not stop our members gadding about!
And so to our Christmas meeting, which this year was a home grown affair'. Members were greeted with pretty table decorations, crackers and coloured napkins and were offered red and white wine, lemonade and orange juice together with savoury nibbles, mince pies and of course the traditional cake, made by our own president.
Our entertainment was an in-house version of Family Fortunes with two teams competing against each other, however, the two teams were a little different as the second team turned out to be the husbands of members who had been secretly seconded into helping with the festive occasion. Everyone enjoyed the game - from the participants down to the audience - and there were of course several near the knuckle' answers given causing loud bursts of laughter.
Rowhil''s choir then brought our meeting to a suitable end by singing a selection of favourite carols accompanied by Ann Claridge on the piano.
Why now come and join us at Rowhill, we meet on the third Thursday of the month at St Peter's, Hextable.
