THE grieving family of a teenager killed in a car crash have spoken of their fond memories of him.

Nineteen-year-old Adam Letchford-Johnson died after the black Vauxhall Corsa he was a passenger in collided with a silver Ford Focus in Green Street, Dartford.

His parents Deryck and Carole and sister Sophie, 17, say the talented guitar player will be missed for his happiness and sense of humour.

Mr Letchford-Johnson, 49, of Ash Road, Hawley, recalled listening to his son play shortly before his death.

He said: "Adam found out there was a party down the road and offered his services on guitar.

"I sat in the garden that Saturday evening and heard him playing Stairway to Heaven. I was so proud of him."

Driving was also a passion for the former North West Kent College student, who loved his black Ford Fiesta.

Mr Letchford-Johnson said: "I taught Adam to drive and as a driving instructor myself I was so proud when he passed his test first time."

The lab technician, who worked for Abbott Laboratories, Queensborough, demonstrated his skill by driving his two friends to the south of France.

His dad added: "His friends couldn't drive so he drove there and back, a journey of 500 miles, without a scratch on his car."

Mrs Letchford-Johnson, 49, remembers her son's sense of humour and said: "We have lots of photographs of Adam pulling funny faces.

"One memory we're all fond of is when he was 14 years old and we left him at home while we went to his sister's carol concert.

"We told him not to call unless it was urgent but he called to ask if he could eat the last samosa."
