SPORTS and community clubs have received a cash boost through a new grant scheme.
The Made in Dartford scheme has paid out more than £8,000 to 11 clubs and societies.
Dartford Council runs the scheme and distributes £85,000 each year to groups.
The money is split between different interests including voluntary groups and performer grants.
Groups awarded a Sports, Arts and Heritage grant include Dartford YMCA; Sutton-at-hone Gymnastics Club; Dartford Volleyball Club; Chalkfoot Theatre Arts; Wellcome Hockey Club, based in Swanley, and the Pavilion Players, in Joydens Wood.
Grants were also made to the South East Community Music Firework Project; Dartford Choral Society; Dartford Football Club; Gravesham and Dartford District Development Group and the Stretch Youth Theatre.
Dartford Volleyball Club youth and community officer, Chris Dixon, said: "We will use this money to encourage women to participate in volleyball."
