POLICE are hunting for a man who lunged over a shop counter and snatched £100 from a till.
The man, thought to be around 30, went to the counter of Martin's Newsagents on Halfway Street, Sidcup, to buy some cigarettes.
As the shopworker turned to get the cigarettes, the man grabbed the money and made a run for it.
A scuffle broke out, in which a window was smashed, as shoppers desperately tired to detain the man.
During the scuffle, the man dropped the £100 outside the newsagent before fleeing in the direction of Avery Hill in a waiting grey Vauxhall Cavalier.
Police were called at 11.53am and the shop was shut while forensic officers carried out an investigation.
The man had short hair, was 5ft 10in tall and was wearing a black leather jacket, jeans, a striped shirt and trainers.
Anyone with information should call Bexleyheath CID on 020 8284 9131.
