A BUS load of pensioners will join older people from across the country in campaigning for a better deal.

Lewisham Pensioners' Forum has hired a double-decker bus to transport its members to Central London to take part in a pensioners' rally.

So far around 40 pensioners from the borough have signed up to attend the rally, which takes place in Camden on January 19.

The aim of the demonstration is to raise awareness of the pensions crisis and other issues affecting elderly people.

Forum chairman Doris Smith said: "It should be a good day. We deserve a better deal and hope Gordon Brown takes some notice of us."

The bus will leave from outside Catford Bridge Station, Catford Bridge, Catford, at 11pm.
