BOOKWORMS are set to benefit with the news libraries in the borough are to get an extra 19,000 books.

Bexley Council leader Councillor Chris Ball has given the go-ahead to spend an extra £150,000 on books to match increased library demand.

The figure is in addition to the £50,000 the council spends on books each year and the first books bought with the extra money should arrive in libraries at the beginning of next month.

Cllr Ball said: "I hope everyone will benefit from the fact there will be more stock on the shelves, which is carefully chosen to meet all our customers' education, information and leisure needs."
