COMMUNITY and voluntary groups in Bexley Council's Areas of Opportunity can apply for small grants.
Three types of grant will be available: up to £500 to support events and activities, up to £2,000 to buy essential equipment and up to £5,000 to run small projects.
The Areas of Opportunity programme, aimed at reducing inequalities in health, education, employment and quality of life in the borough, is targeting Thamesmead East, Erith, Slade Green, Cray/Sidcup, Belvedere, Northumberland Heath, Crayford, Welling and Bexleyheath.
Groups working with people who face social exclusion, disadvantaged groups and groups which need help to set up in the borough can apply.
The programme is the brainchild of the Labour council, supported by the Conservative opposition and funded by the council and outside organisations.
