HISTORY buffs have been peering through time to learn more about how the borough was created.
The exhibition at Bromley Central Library, High Street, Bromley, shows council memorabilia from when the borough was formed on April 1, 1965, as a result of the London Government Act 1963, to the present day.
It also shows the history of the former boroughs of Beckenham and Bromley and the councils of Chislehurst, Orpington and Penge.
Highlights of the exhibition include the Beckenham coat of arms and the Orpington grant of arms, dating from before the borough of Bromley, when Beckenham and Orpington had separate district councils.
Local studies librarian Simon Finch said: "The exhibition lets people understand how we got to where we are today."
