COUNCIL bosses are aiming to maintain the borough's position as the number one recycler in London.

Over Christmas the borough's residents produce an additional 1,500 tonnes of waste.

The council hopes the proper disposal of this waste will help hit its target of recycling 37.5 per cent of Bexley's rubbish by the end of the year.

Any paper can be disposed of in green kerbside boxes, glass can be collected in black boxes and plastic in maroon boxes, available to every household in the borough.

Food and Christmas trees with a trunk of up to two inches in diameter can be recycled in brown wheelie bins.

If the trees are too big you can call the council and arrange for someone to collect it.

More valuable goods such as unwanted clothes and electrical equipment, as well as larger quantities of household waste, can be disposed of at one of the 65 mini-recycling sites across the borough.
