A HUMAN rights campaigner has been honoured by the Queen.
Mother-of-three Sarah Cooke, of Hengrave Road, Forest Hill, was made an OBE in the New Year Honours List.
The 37-year-old started out as a human rights lawyer before a seven-year stint as head of the British Institute for Human Rights.
Miss Cooke now works as an independent adviser on human rights issues to a host of organisations, including the Government.
She said: "I feel humbled and delighted to receive this honour.
"The work I do is fantastically rewarding. I have always been motivated by correcting unfairness and inequality."
Others to be recognised in the honours list include London School of Economics administrator Sarah Hunt, from Charlton, who was made an MBE for services to education.
Martin Flaherty, from Eltham, was also made MBE for his work with the London Ambulance Service.
