A CHRISTIAN fellowship has given two parishes on the Caribbean island of Grenada a much-needed cash boost.

The East Wickham Christian Fellowship collected £688 at its traditional service of songs at St Michael's Community Centre, Wrotham Road, Welling.

This was the most cash the 45-member fellowship has raised at a single event.

The group set up links with the two parishes St Marks and St Johns five years ago.

Grenada has since been devastated by two hurricanes, Ivan in September 2004 and Emily in May last year.

The money will be spent on re-roofing the annexe of St Marks Church, which was ruined by Hurricaine Emily.

Fellowship chairman Michael Masey said: "We're thrilled with the amount we've raised.

"Hopefully this money will go towards building a better life for the people in Grenada."
