LONDON PRIDE: Christopher Austin from Bromley was made an OBE in the New Year Honours' List for services to passenger transport. He was executive director of the Community Rail Development and the Strategic Rail Authority. Roy Bishop, the deputy commissioner of the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority, was made an OBE.
HONOURS: Keith Barnes, a senior management technician in the Department of Pharmaceutics, University of London, was made an MBE for services to higher education. Lorna Coulson, a science teacher at Langley Park School for Girls, Hawsbrook Lane, Beckenham, was made an MBE for services to education.
FRIDGE BLAST: Explosive experts were called following an explosion in Oak Hill Road, Beckenham, at 8.45am yesterday. The blast is believed to have been caused by gas in a fridge. No-one was injured.
FOOT FIGHT: No further action will be taken against six females, aged between 14 and 43, who were arrested following a fight in a shoe shop.
