A SHOPKEEPER has been fined for selling alcohol to a 15-year-old boy in an undercover trading standards operation.

Arjan Nandha, trading as Dhruvi News, was fined £500 and ordered to pay £150 costs at Bromley Magistrates' Court for committing the offence.

He pleaded guilty to selling two cans of lager to the boy at the shop in Widmore Road, Bromley.

Nandha failed to ask the youth his age or for any identification when the test purchase was carried out in April last year.

Trading standards spokesman Rob Vale said: "It is in everyone's interest traders check the age of young people attempting to buy age-restricted goods."
