A NATURE reserve has struck lucky on the Lottery by getting a share of a £1m payout.
Scadbury Park, Old Perry Street, Chislehurst, has been awarded £75,000 for improvements.
These will include increasing the number of trees and plant species.
The 300-acre park, which was acquired by the council in 1983, attracts 30,000 visitors a year.
The £1m was awarded to the Capital Woodlands Project by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The project was set up last year by environmental groups and five London boroughs, including Bromley, to improve the capital's woodland areas.
Executive councillor for leisure and community safety Councillor Neil Reddin said: "We welcome this funding.
"It provides us with an opportunity to improve an area of mature woodland and extensive natural habitats."
The rest of the £1m Lottery cash will be used to improve other woodlands in London.
