A SELFLESS volunteer has been rewarded for his work with young people.
Ray Corbett, 55, has spent the past seven years working with the Rainer South London Appropriate Adult Service.
His work involves going to police stations, to provide support to young people who have been arrested but do not have a parent or guardian to look after them.
Mr Corbett, who lives in Lewisham, has now been named Rainer volunteer of the year, for his loyal service.
He said: "I always think about the fear and anxiety a young person must feel when detained in a police station.
"I always try to make young people aware the police are human beings too."
Mr Corbett, a full-time volunteer, recieved a framed certificate from chair of the commons' Youth Affairs group MP Ed Miliband, during a Westminster ceremony.
