FRONT line workers operating in Bexley's Areas of Opportunity held a brainstorming session to come up with new ideas.

Professionals and voluntary community workers got together to look at how services in the areas covered by the programme could be improved.

Among those taking part were headteachers, health professionals and council officers as well as community workers, who took part in a variety of workshops.

After canvassing the views of residents the session looked at subjects such as diet, teenage pregnancy, racism and alternative education.

Among the ideas being developed are a community food initiative to make quality healthy food affordable for people, developing teenage pregancy services, providing extra support for children aged up to 11, cookery courses and basic skills courses.
