TEACHERS are celebrating after their school was ranked one of the top 100 in the country for Key Stage 2 results.

Every pupil at Brindishe School, Wantage Road, Lee, scored 100 per cent for English, maths and science.

And Key Stage 2 results across the borough improved in every subject with attainment at English up 3.2 per cent to 77 per cent.

Maths was up 1.6 per cent to 72 per cent and science up 1.1 per cent to 84.2 per cent.

Department for Education and Skills (DfES) statistics also showed Lewisham primaries have performed well under the Value Added score, which indicates the progress children have made since the age of seven.

Lewisham's Value Added score was the second most improved in Inner London.

The overall increase from 100.1 to 100.67 has seen the borough jump to 14th place in the national rankings, making it one of the most improved of 150 education authorities.

Primaries which came in the top five per cent nationwide for Value Added scores also included St Augustine's Roman Catholic in Dunfield Road; Tidemill in Frankham Street; John Ball in Southvale Road; Lee Manor in Leahurst Road; Edmund Waller in Waller Road and Lucas Vale in Thornville Street.

Mayor of Lewisham Councillor Steve Bullock said: "These results are a tribute to the hard work of pupils, their schools and the determination of headteachers."
