TRADING standards officers are clamping down on shopkeepers who sell goods to underage customers.
The group has combined forces with police to launch the Who's Selling to Our Kids? campaign, encouraging people to report the names and addresses of businesses who are selling age-restricted products to children.
Products being targeted include fireworks, spray paints, knives, solvents and glue.
But in the run-up to Christmas, special attention is being focused on alcohol and cigarettes.
If traders have any doubts about a customer's age they must ask for a PASS (Proof of Age Standards Scheme) approved card, photocard driving licence or passport.
And youngsters aged 16 to 18 or older people who look underage are also encouraged to get a PASS card to remove any doubt.
Although the number of prosecutions has dropped this year, trading standards says it is still important to track down irresponsible traders who are selling products illegally.
Information given to trading standards can be anonymous.
