GETTING children into primary school is now easier and fairer, according to the council.

Under the new system for 2006/07, parents fill in one form and list three schools.

Previously they had to apply to schools separately.

The new system is said to be fairer because children only get one offer of a place and they all get them on the same day.

Anyone with a child whose fifth birthday falls between September 1 next year and August 31, 2007, must fill in an application form.

These can be picked up at Bromley Civic Centre, Stockwell Close, or any Bromley primary school.

Parents can get further information by visiting the website bromley.gov.uk or picking up a leaflet from a library.

The deadline for applications is February 1 next year.

Offers will be posted out on May 2 next year.
