AN ENERGY company was ordered to pay £4,700 in fines and £13,500 costs after it failed to carry out road works satisfactorily.
EDF Energy admitted 24 charges and was sentenced at Bromley Magistrates' Court.
The offences include failure to maintain relevant safety measures around works and non-completion of reinstatement works.
The company appeared in court on November 23 and was also prosecuted in October last year for similar offences.
Executive councillor for the environment George Taylor said: "This is simply not good enough.
"We cannot have utilities compromising the safety of our residents through defective road repairs or those not properly protected."
EDF Energy generates seven per cent of the UK's electricity, employs 11,300 people and supplies over a quarter of the UK population with electricity.
Concerns about utility road works can be reported to the council's streets works manager David Lambert on 020 8313 4933.
