POLICE have begun a campaign to combat alcohol-fuelled crime in the run up to Christmas.
Until Christmas Eve, there will be more police in town centres and officers with sniffer dogs will be at train and bus stations.
And Bromley Council trading standards officers and young people will be testing licensed premises for sales to underage drinkers.
The action is in support of the Government's Alcohol Misuse Enforcement Campaign and police will be aiming to tackle anti-social behaviour and serious violent crime caused by alcohol.
Inspector Andy Johnstone, who heads Bromley Town Centre's Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: "Bromley is one of the safest boroughs in the Met yet we are not complacent, as this campaign demonstrates.
"If you are intent on causing trouble, be certain you will receive a fine or end up in prison.
"And licensees who promote rowdy behaviour will not be tolerated either.
"We hope these measures mean all Bromley residents will have a safe and enjoyable Christmas."
